Zeer x Racelogic VIPS Empower CATARC to Build New High-Precision Indoor Parking Test Capabilities

In recent years, parking assistance and automated parking functions have rapidly proliferated in the passenger vehicle market. Increasingly complex scenarios—such as indoor parking, parking cruise, and multi-target cooperative interactions—have placed higher demands on the testing and validation of parking systems. Traditional validation methods based primarily on single, static conditions can no longer meet the need for systematic evaluation of modern parking functions in complex, real-world environments.

Against this backdrop, CATARC has focused on real indoor parking scenarios and has officially established a high-precision testing and validation capability for indoor parking with dynamic–static collaborative scenarios. Centered on a high-precision indoor positioning test system, this capability overcomes the challenges of positioning and motion measurement in environments where satellite navigation signals are limited or unavailable, marking a milestone achievement in the development of indoor parking test and validation systems in China.

As a key technical pillar of this testing framework, the Racelogic VIPS (VBOX Indoor Positioning System) high-precision indoor positioning system—introduced and represented in China by Zeer Test Technology Co., Ltd.—has been successfully deployed and applied in CATARC’s indoor parking test scenarios.

High-Precision Indoor Positioning: Laying a Solid Foundation for Quantitative Evaluation of Complex Parking Scenarios

In typical indoor parking environments where GNSS signals are weak or unavailable, the VIPS system leverages UWB (Ultra-Wideband) positioning technology combined with high-performance inertial fusion algorithms to deliver stable and continuous motion measurement for test vehicles and dynamic targets. Key parameters such as position, speed, and acceleration are accurately captured.

With centimeter-level indoor positioning accuracy and stable data output under high-dynamic conditions, VIPS provides a highly reliable data foundation for the quantitative analysis and objective evaluation of vehicle behavior, control strategies, and system responses throughout the indoor parking process.

Dynamic–Static Collaborative Interaction: Supporting Highly Realistic Parking Scenario Construction

Relying on the high refresh rate and high stability of VIPS positioning output, CATARC has established a comprehensive suite of test scenarios covering a wide range of real indoor parking conditions, including:

  • Pedestrian intrusion during parking-in maneuvers

  • Dynamic target interference during parking cruise

  • Lead vehicle departure and changes in adjacent parking spaces

  • Precise collaborative interaction testing between multiple dynamic targets and the vehicle under test

The VIPS system supports simultaneous multi-target positioning with high-frequency updates, ensuring precise spatiotemporal coordination between the test vehicle and dynamic targets in indoor environments. This capability provides critical technical support for the repeatable construction and systematic validation of complex parking scenarios.

Seamless Integration with AB Dynamics Platforms for Closed-Loop Dynamic Testing

Across various indoor test scenarios, VIPS serves as a high-precision indoor positioning reference and integrates seamlessly in real time with AB Dynamics driving platforms (both large and small):

  • High-precision reference input: VIPS provides centimeter-level position, attitude, and velocity data for vehicles and dynamic targets, enabling precise control of AB Dynamics platforms

  • Closed-loop dynamic testing: Real-time VIPS data is used to locate and control platform trajectories, enabling controlled and repeatable collaboration between vehicles and dynamic targets in complex scenarios

  • Multi-scenario adaptability: Applicable to acceleration, braking, parking, and multi-target dynamic interference test conditions

This integrated capability enables full-scenario, high-precision closed-loop dynamic testing indoors, delivering comprehensive and quantifiable validation methods for vehicle development and system iteration.
