[Taice | News Sharing] ATIC Taice and Zeer Testing Technology Successfully Completed the Validation of UNR 171 DCAS Site and Road Scene Testing Method

Recently, ATIC Certification Team and Zeer Test Technology jointly conducted a verification of testing methods for DCAS (UNR 171 Driver Control Assistance System). The aim was to validate the effectiveness of the testing methods and data for the 16 required site test scenarios and 5 real-world test scenarios under the DCAS regulation, using actual vehicles and testing equipment.

This verification test utilized two sets of Racelogic VBOX4-ADAS, multiple VBOX Video HD units, combined with differential base stations and network RTK solutions to ensure measurement accuracy and data synchronization. Both single-vehicle and multi-vehicle conditions were employed to validate multiple test scenarios under the UNR 171 Driver Control Assistance System.

After a professional evaluation of the testing equipment, procedures, and data by ATIC's UNR 171 authorized signatory experts, it was concluded that the testing method is effective and the test data can be used for UNR 171 type approval applications.

▎Background
With the rapid development of automotive intelligence and automation technologies, the Driver Control Assistance System (DCAS), as a key technology for enhancing intelligent driving, has garnered widespread attention. Similar to EU 2021/1958 ISA and UNR 157 ALKS regulations, the UNR 171 DCAS regulation requires not only site testing but also real-world testing in European countries. ATIC proactively conducted testing method verification domestically to ensure that vehicle manufacturers can receive domestic pre-testing services before official certification projects commence. After completing the testing method verification, ATIC's German and Italian teams will be equipped with the same full set of testing equipment, enabling them to simultaneously initiate European real-world validation testing and certification testing for vehicle manufacturers.

Additionally, ATIC's German and Italian teams can provide additional services such as test license applications for vehicle real-world testing, driver services, insurance services, and data desensitization services, offering a one-stop solution for vehicle manufacturers' European real-world testing needs.

▎Site Test Scenarios
4.2.5.1.1. Positioning in the driving lane
4.2.5.1.2. Driver-initiated lane change
4.2.5.1.4. System-initiated lane change
4.2.5.2.1. Stationary vehicle on a straight road ahead
4.2.5.2.2. Stationary vehicle on a curved road ahead
4.2.5.2.3. Slow-moving vehicle on a straight road ahead
4.2.5.2.5. Preceding vehicle cutting out
4.2.5.2.6. Vehicle cutting in from an adjacent lane
4.2.5.2.8. Stationary pedestrian ahead in the lane
4.2.5.2.9. Stationary bicycle target ahead in the lane
4.2.5.2.10. Pedestrian target entering the VUT path
4.2.5.2.11. Bicycle intruding into the VUT path
4.2.5.2.12. Pedestrian target entering the VUT path at an intersection
4.2.5.2.13. Bicycle target entering the VUT path at an intersection
4.2.5.2.14. Turning across the path of an oncoming vehicle
4.2.5.2.15. Crossing the straight path of a vehicle target at an intersection

▎Real-World Test Scenarios

  1. Guiding the vehicle to select a lane

  2. Entering a roundabout or exiting while driving within a roundabout

  3. Guiding the vehicle out of its driving lane (when this action is not a lane change)

  4. Guiding the vehicle to make a turn

  5. Guiding the vehicle to leave or arrive at a parking position
