On September 23–24, Guangzhou ZEER Testing Technology Co., Ltd. hosted a two-day technical seminar at the Wuhan Intelligent Connected Vehicle Proving Ground.

Unlike traditional seminars that primarily focus on technical discussions in conference rooms, this event adopted an Open House format, combining technical presentations with live demonstrations at the proving ground.

A wide range of testing solutions were showcased, covering end-to-end ADAS testing, coordinated testing of vehicles and dynamic targets, driverless durability testing, driving simulation, scenario simulation, and L2 regulatory compliance testing.

From Technical Presentations to Real-World Testing

During the event, Andrew Pick from AB Dynamics and Kevin Bursnall from Racelogic delivered technical presentations on end-to-end ADAS testing and coordinated vehicle and dynamic target testing, respectively.

These solutions were subsequently demonstrated at the Wuhan Intelligent Connected Vehicle Proving Ground, using real equipment, vehicles, and test scenarios.

The live demonstrations featured VIPS, VBOX Motion Pack, LaunchPad Spin, and driverless durability testing solutions, showcasing practical applications ranging from high-precision positioning and dynamic target coordination to automated vehicle testing.

VIPS Enables Indoor ADAS Testing Scenarios

VIPS × VBOX 4 — High-Precision Positioning in GNSS-Denied Environments

In ADAS testing, accurately determining the position and motion of the vehicle under test (VUT) and target objects is essential for scenario execution and subsequent data analysis.

The first live demonstration featured a static positioning test using VIPS and VBOX 4.

By deploying positioning infrastructure throughout the test area, VIPS provides high-precision positioning references in GNSS-challenged or GNSS-denied environments.

The static positioning demonstration provided a clear illustration of VIPS positioning accuracy, establishing the foundation for subsequent dynamic scenario testing.

VIPS × VBOX Motion Pack × LaunchPad Spin — Integrating Positioning into Pedestrian ADAS Testing

In the subsequent dynamic demonstration, AB Dynamics' LaunchPad Spin was introduced to create an integrated testing solution combining VIPS, VBOX Motion Pack, and a dynamic target platform.

A typical pedestrian cut-in scenario was selected for the demonstration.

Equipped with VBOX Motion Pack, the LaunchPad Spin carried a pedestrian target into the test area, while VIPS provided positioning support for the vehicle. This enabled the vehicle and dynamic target to execute the test scenario and acquire data within a unified testing framework.

From static positioning verification to pedestrian cut-in testing, the demonstration went beyond showcasing the accuracy of an individual positioning device. Instead, it illustrated how high-precision positioning can be integrated into practical ADAS testing workflows, working together with vehicles, dynamic target platforms, and specific test scenarios.

This was also a practical demonstration of the coordinated vehicle and dynamic target testing concept introduced by Kevin Bursnall during his technical presentation.

From ADAS Scenario Testing to Driverless Durability Testing

While the integration of VIPS, VBOX Motion Pack, and LaunchPad Spin focused on accurately executing ADAS test scenarios, another demonstration addressed a different challenge:

How can vehicles autonomously complete extensive, repetitive road durability tests?

During the event, AB Dynamics demonstrated its driverless durability testing solution by successfully completing a predefined driving route.

The test vehicle autonomously followed the planned route without continuous driver intervention.

Notably, VBOX Motion Pack was also integrated into this driverless durability testing solution.

In this application, VBOX Motion Pack provided vehicle positioning and motion measurement capabilities, supplying the vehicle motion data required for test control.

This demonstrated how the same VBOX Motion Pack system can support multiple testing applications:

  • When integrated with VIPS, it supports vehicle positioning in GNSS-denied environments.

  • When combined with LaunchPad Spin, it enables ADAS dynamic target testing.

  • In driverless durability testing, it serves as part of the vehicle positioning and motion measurement system for automated driving operations.

From static positioning verification to coordinated pedestrian cut-in testing, and finally to autonomous execution of predefined durability test routes, the afternoon demonstrations brought the technical solutions introduced earlier in the day into real-world testing environments.

Whether through the integration of VIPS, VBOX Motion Pack, and LaunchPad Spin or the driverless durability testing demonstration, the focus was not simply on the capabilities of individual devices, but on how different testing systems work together to accomplish practical testing tasks.

From high-precision positioning to dynamic target control, and from ADAS scenario execution to driverless durability testing, ZEER aimed to demonstrate that technical solutions should go beyond specifications and theoretical concepts.

Through these live demonstrations, participants could see the solutions in action at a real proving ground and understand how they address practical testing requirements.

Extending from Physical Proving Grounds to Virtual Testing

Real vehicles and physical proving grounds remain indispensable to automotive testing. However, modern vehicle development and validation are no longer limited to physical testing environments.

To demonstrate a more comprehensive testing workflow, the event also featured solutions for virtual simulation and regulatory compliance testing.

Wang Shuo from ZEER delivered a presentation on the AML Driving Simulator and rFpro scenario rendering software, explaining how driving simulators, high-fidelity virtual environments, and vehicle models can be integrated to create virtual testing environments.

Participants also had the opportunity to experience the driving simulator firsthand, gaining direct insight into driving and testing processes within virtual scenarios.

To address regulatory testing requirements for advanced driver assistance systems, Wang Chen from ZEER introduced the ASEva L2 Regulatory Testing Solution. Supported by on-site equipment demonstrations, the presentation explained how different L2 driver assistance testing scenarios can be implemented.

In addition, Zhu Bing from ZEER delivered a technical presentation on DEWETRON testing systems for new energy vehicles, extending the discussions to data acquisition and testing applications in the new energy vehicle sector.

Beyond Technical Presentations: Bringing Testing Solutions to Life

From technical discussions in the conference room to static positioning tests, pedestrian cut-in scenarios, and driverless durability demonstrations at the proving ground, followed by hands-on experiences with driving simulators and regulatory testing solutions, the Wuhan Open House was designed to showcase more than a collection of individual products.

More importantly, the event demonstrated how automotive testing can be performed more efficiently when positioning systems, vehicle motion measurement, dynamic target platforms, driverless testing robots, virtual simulation tools, and regulatory testing solutions are integrated into a coordinated testing ecosystem.

Technical presentations in the morning, followed by real-world demonstrations at the proving ground in the afternoon.

From theory to practical validation, from individual devices to integrated scenarios, and from testing capabilities to actual test execution — this was the experience ZEER aimed to deliver through its Wuhan Open House.

Connecting Online and Offline Audiences: Expanding the Reach of Technical Exchange

The Wuhan seminar also marked ZEER's first attempt at providing a full live broadcast of the entire event.

From technical presentations in the conference room to the live demonstrations featuring VIPS, VBOX Motion Pack, LaunchPad Spin, and driverless durability testing at the proving ground, ZEER broadcast the two-day event simultaneously through its official WeChat Channels account and the Automotive Testing Network platform.

In addition to the participants attending in person at the Wuhan Intelligent Connected Vehicle Proving Ground, the livestream attracted approximately 2,000 cumulative online views during the event.

By connecting online and offline audiences, the event enabled broader technical exchange and allowed industry professionals who could not attend in person to experience the presentations and demonstrations remotely.

Looking ahead, ZEER Testing will continue to collaborate with global partners, including AB Dynamics, Racelogic, and DEWETRON, to bring advanced testing technologies into practical applications through more diverse and engaging formats.

Together, we aim to deliver more comprehensive testing solutions for intelligent driving, vehicle dynamics, new energy vehicles, and automated testing, supporting the continued advancement of automotive testing technologies.
